Fleurs...fleurs and more fleurs...

OK...so as anyone who follows my blog...I love flowers....purchased, handmade or home grown...So my newest...latest craze has been to create my own flowers from pages of a book!

This is a picture of one of my gardens at my house...I LOVE FLOWERS!! What a joy...

To create your own flowers for you scrapbook pages...grab a scallop circle punch...or cut them out from your diecut machine.

I chose to work with a 2 7/8" scallop circle punch for these flowers.

Punch or cut out 3 flowers from random pages from an old book.

At each scallop, make cuts....creating petals.

Ink the flowers with the Distress ink of your choice...I chose to use Faded Jeans.

Apply a dab of glue...I used "The Ultimate" a thick white glue...into the center of the first flower.

Place second flower on top of first flower, apply another dab of glue and adhere last flower.
Place flower in your hand and push down in the center, pinch back and man handle the flower.

When dry...cut off point on back...
don't cut toooooo far of you may end up with pieces in your hand.

There you have it....a beautiful handmade flower. You can use coordinating scrapbook paper... or what ever you can think of...use different size scallop circles....think out of your box....and have fun!!

Here is a sneak peek of a layout I created using this flower for the next challenge on DreamGirlsChallengeBlog .

Time for a new challenge!!!

OK...so this is the next DREAMGIRLS challenge for Team B....not for my team...but I couldn't resist because this challenge really pushed me out of my box. Of course the distress part was no problem but the "Measure" parts were a bit harder to grasp!! I looked up a quote and came across the one I used..."To measure the man, measure his heart." by Malcolm Stevenson Forbes. I immediately thought of both my husband and his father. Two men with the biggest hearts. The central photo was the last photo taken of Walter, my DH, with his dad.

On this layout, I used a rather unconventional item....gutter screening, black, dimensional and fun!! So it may not be archival but it sure is cool looking!
I had tons of fun painting the Maya Road flourish with Distress Crackle Paint...Tarnished Brass....oh what a yummy product. I then inked over it with Black Ink Distress Ink. Oh what an awesome effect!! I then accented with dots of Fired Brick Distress Stickles...More yummilicousness!!!

Prompt: Use the word Measure on your layout
Technique: {Distressing}Sanding,inking
Product: Measuring tape

So, I now encourage you to take the "CHALLENGE" and create a layout of your own and add it to the flickr group and you could be chosen to win an awesome prize...so head over to DREAMGIRLS to join in on the fun!

Challenge #31....Sketch This Out!!!

Do you like a challenge? I do....so for the first of two challenges this month....Team A get to use a sketch..

For this Challenge we got an exclusive sketch from Liz Qualman, love her sketches. Check out her blog called My Little Sketch Blook leave her some love.

Prompt: Sketch

Product: Diecut Paper

Technique: old photo, {Sepia or Black and white} your photo should be at least 5 yrs old

Here is my take on the sketch...I had an awesome time...pawing through old photos to create this layout! The sepia photo is of 4 generations of women...My beloved...Grammie T, Melysa, who will be 16 in August, Me....and my Mom!!

The b&w is Lysie with her beloved dad!!!
I couldn't find a diecut I wanted to use...so I traced one onto the paper I had chosen...the leaves are cut from a piece of fabric I had...and once again I created my own flowers!!!

So hop on over to DreamGirls Challenge and upload your creation for a chance to win!!
