Playing along.....

Hello my friends......
LOVE is in the AIR!!
....and Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

I had already created some "paper" that
I thought I was going to use for another challenge
but it fit this challenge perfectly!!
I created my "paper" by adhering various papers, fabrics and textures
to a piece of printed paper.

I mixed a bit of Mudd Puddles ~ Sand with a bit of
The Crafter's Workshop ~ White Pearl Modeling Paste.
I applied it to my "paper" through
an UmWowStudio stencil ~ Hexagon Confetti Stencil.

When dry, I applied Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glam ~ Bon Bon
with a pipette, drying between layers,
until I had achieved my desired look.

I then, cut the paper into mini ATC's.
I found it easier to cut from the backside of my"paper".
I just love how every ATC is so different from another.

With the leftover "paper" I cut out various sized hearts.

Then, using a pipette filled with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Mist ~ Red Chillies
I dropped the color onto the hearts.

Don't they look AMAZING!!

Here are my finished Valentine Cards.
I used Impression Obsession/Yvonne Blair Designs
Everyday Quotes 2
They were just PERFECT for my cards.

 Hope you enjoyed my
Love filled cards!!

Hello Creative Souls....

The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!

Can I just say I am beyond GIDDY!!
UmWowStudio and I have partnered to release....

I had a paint lid that was
kicking around in my studio from
a decoration for my daughter's bridal party!
I began by painting my lid with
Tattered Angels ~ High Impact Paint ~ White.
I then used The Crafter's Workshop ~ Mini Prismascope
and Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste.

Whey dry I colored my lid with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glaze
Galaxy
Pewter and
Saffron
Glimmer Glam ~ Bon Bon

My latest addiction....Relics & Artifacts!
I used one of the "face" resins from Visage and colored it with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glam ~ Bon Bon
and Glimmer Glaze ~ Saffron
and accented it with vintage chain cord.

......and there it is......my UmWowStudio ~ Large Ivy

...colored with Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glaze ~ Galaxy and Saffron.

I finished off my creation
by stamping on a piece of TissueStock with Stazon ink
and applying to my lid with Ranger ~ Multi Medium ~ Matte.

I finished off my creation with various twine, lace and chain.

I hope you enjoyed my creation.

One of THOSE projects.....

....and this is one!
I needed to make a 4" x 4" canvas,
representing my style for
Canvas Corp Brands DT.
Without a clear plan, I decided to use
the mood board from
Our Mixed Media Moods for my inspiration.

.....and so my exploration began.

You see, I had been on a "paper" making frenzy
so I chose one of my "creations" to be the base to my canvas.
I cut a 3.75 x 3.75 piece and adhered it to
my Canvas Corp Brands 4 x 4 Canvas.
I then picked one of the pieces from
the UmWowStudio's
Mini View Finder Mash
and cut it in half.
Next, I applied Crackle Paint to the face of each piece.
When they were dry, I adhered them to my canvas.

For my numbers....
I dove into my stash of Thickers
(I know you have one too)
and adhered them randomly to my canvas
with Multi Medium Matte.

....but I wasn't happy!
So, I walked away from it for a day....

I came back and applied my new addiction....
USArtQuest ~ Prills using
Multi Medium Matte.

....but I wasn't happy!
So I walked away from it for a day....

I decided it needed a bit more Crackle Paint.....

....but I STILL wasn't happy!
So I walked away for another day....

As I pondered on my creation
I decided it needed a bit more color to ooze
into the cracks and crevices of the Crackle Paint.
So, I pulled out a bunch of Tattered Angels Goodness
and let the coloring begin....

......If you know me you know
I think no work of art is complete without
saying SOMETHING!
so......I went to my collection of Yvonne Blair Designs stamps
and "Just Breathe" jumped out at me...

I took my creation out and photographed it and realized
I STILL wasn't happy!!
OH MY GOODNESS....

SO.....I headed back to my desk and pulled out a bit of
cheese cloth and wire mesh.....

NOW.........I WAS HAPPY!!!

PHEW.....what a journey.
but I do think it "Captures my Style"
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my creation!!

STARTING from the Same Place!! ARTIST Collaborative

Welcome to
"Starting from the Same Place"
artist collaboration.....

what an HONOR to be apart of this
FABULOUS group of SUPER creative peeps!!

We were all sent similar packages and
encouraged to use EVERYTHING.
our kit contained
There were ALL KINDS of pieces parts
from a strip of resisters
to some BEAUTIFULLY dyed fabrics...
oh the list goes on and on!!
(see above picture)
I pondered on this project for a few weeks....
until it hit me and
this is what I came up with....
a rather shabby lookin' mini album!
We were allowed to add from our own stash as needed.

There were (3) GORGEOUS resin pieces in my kit.
For the first one I applied a layer of
Perfect Paints ~ Shimmering Matte Acrylic ~ Ballet Slippers
to the resin rose and let it dry.
I then created a 50/50 glaze with
SMA ~ Vintage Mercury and Perfect Glaze Medium
applied the mixture to rose and whipped off excess.
JUST GORGEOUS!!!

.....and did I say there was fabric in our kit more LOVE!!
I added the Light Pink burlap and Flute
along with Polishing Plaster
to the die cut gears.

OMW....there was so much goodness to work with!

The resin clock.....totally AMAZING with Shimmering Matte Acrylic paint.

How cool is the View Finder packaging???

.....the next spread!

Journal Buddy Blog Hop

We, The Art Girls and Yvonne Blair Designs
are celebrating being picked as the editor’s choice in the Oct-Dec Issue of
Stampers Sampler by Stampington.

Each one of the Art Girls will be giving away
a journal buddy on Friday Oct. 7.

What is a Journal Buddy you may ask.....
The Journal Buddy is a multi-functional tool that helps you
add artful journaling to any paper crafting project.
The Journal Buddy is made out of high quality stencil material t
hat is not only pliable but see through so you can see where you are adding lines.
The Journal Buddy features a wavy and straight edge, a ruler,
straight edges on each side to line it up so your journaling stays straight,
as well as line guides for you to ink, trace, paint, or spray onto your page.
You will be amazed at how easy it is to use adding decorative journaling to your
art journals, scrapbook layouts, cards and envelopes and more.

In case you didn't know....
I love working with NEW product
(or new to me)
so I pulled out my
Inky Art Journal
the place I like to work when trying
NEW THINGS!!

NOW.....when I am working in my Inky Art Journal
it not necessarily about the end product
but the step getting there!

I began my creative exploration by applying
gesso using the wavy side of my Journal Buddy!
(I had run masking tape down the spine)
I liked that look!!

Next, I wanted to try using the wavy edge of to apply
texture medium to a defined area....
that was pretty COOL, too!!

Next, I pulled out a Calendar Mist Kit and let the coloring begin!

When I was happy with my coloring, I used my Journal Buddy to
add more lines to my background.

Now where to go from here!
'Cause I had been LOVING each step so far!!

I then painted color into the various shape I had created
with my Journal Buddy
OK....THIS IS AWESOME!!

Here is my finished page....
(I had to add a bit more color and of course a few flowers)

I love cutting up stamped verbage
so, I decided to use the Wavy Edge of the Journal Buddy
as my guide to apply ALL the cut up words....
it worked like a dream.

.....here are some closeups of my page!

I chose an Yvonne Blair/Impression Obsession stamp
She Was Tired

along with Sketch Twig
