Ranger's NEW Embossing Powders

I have to say I am beyond humbled....
I opened my Instagram page the other day and noticed a message.
So, I popped over to see what it was about....
and there was a message from Kelly from Ranger Ink. WHAT!?!?!

Ranger Speckle Embossing Powder using ArtFoamies Stamps and Emboss it ink pad

YOU SEE....
Ranger Ink has released NEW Speckle Embossing Powders! and they asked if I'd be interested in playing with their new product.
NOW...that was a silly question! OF COURSE!
So, I PATIENTLY waited for my box to arrive....
When my box arrived, I headed right for my studio to try them out.

with ArtFoamies ~ Polka Dot stamp
I wanted to see how the product worked and
what it looked like when finished.
I tried several different ways to apply the Speckle Embossing Powder which is
a blend of color and textured granules.
  • Pouring onto paper with stamped image.
I found that the color covered the embossing ink making it a bit difficult       for the speckles to adhere.
  • Scooping out Embossing Powder with my palette knife and sprinkling onto stamped image.
This way worked better but I was still getting toooo much color and not        enough speckle.
  • Lastly, using very small quantities of the Speckled Embossing Powder, specifically placed.
By far my FAVORITE way. It Allowed the "speckles" to adhere better.

Once I had determined how to apply the Embossing Powder....what next?!?

First, I wanted to dimmish the glossy look. So, I applied a layer of

I then pulled out more ArtFoamies Stamps
and let the stamping/embossing/layering begin.
Layer upon Layer of FABULOUS color.

NOW....what to do with my new "Embossed Paper".
I decided to cut it into ATC's 2.5 x 3.5 to use for cards.

I then pulled out one of my UmWowStudio ~ Small Ivy.
Now, I need a green color so I thought I'd try mixing
BlueBerry and Lemon Drop

I used Ranger ~ Emboss It Dabber ~ Clear
on the chippie and covered it with my mixture.
I have to say....I LOVE how it came out.

All those tags....MMMC Mid Month

Welcome to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge ~ MidMonth!

Our sponsor this month is...

When working on my first post for the challenge,
I made up a BUNCH OF TAGS.
If you missed it....here is my video on
how I made my tags using stamps fromTopFlight Stamps.

I truly had an AWESOME time working with
my Block Wallah ~ Exotic  and also
Katzelkrafts ~ Clouds stamps.

So.....what does one do with all these "tags"??!??!
You fancy 'em up....
a flower
some leaves
a bit of ticking
a length of wire ribbon
and a loopy bow.

But then what??
You've end up with a pile of tags.
So I thought I'd try something different.

I decided to cover an artboard with some vintage paper,
added a bit of vintage curtian and
an larger piece of flute.....
to create a tag, worthy of hanging on your wall.

a dream....is a wish

Hi everyone.....
THANK YOU sooo MUCH
for stopping by my blog.
I am SOOOO EXCITED to be Guest Designing

I created a mood board to base my creation on....
the theme is...

(OK....so a may be a bit shabby rustic
but it works for me!!)

I received a custome designed box from
Canvas Corp Brands to match my board.

Here is end result!

....and this is how i created this 6 x 6 Canvas.
I began by cutting 1.5" squares from
I applied the squares to my canvas with Multi Medium.
I then sprayed the entire canvas with
When dry, I lathered on a bit of gesso
and set it aside to dry.

I cut petals for my flower out of
vintage curtains and painted on
When it dries....the material
is stiffer and is able to be manipulated.

When drying the petals I crumpled
them in my hand.
When dry, I pinched the fabric together
and stapled it.
I cut a 1" circle from crafter paper
and adhered the petals in layers
with Multi Medium.

As my flower is drying,
I keep manipulating the petals.
With a round brush I painted
on a bit of
Vintage Brass
Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

I had previously applied a layer
of White Stucco which had been drying.
I then dipped my canvas in the left over
ink on my craft mat.

I pulled out a Window chippie,
globbed on gesso.
When mostly dry,
I spritzed the window frame with
Bash
When dry I cut a bit of
vintage curtain and adhered it to the back
of my window frame with Multi Medium.

I cut ivy from a piece of linen paper.
I spritzed the entire vine with
Bash
and painted on
Safari Green for contrast.

I spritzed 3 flowers with

I also cut spiral flowers from

When everything was dry I put my canvas together.
I began by stapling a piece of
Birch Bark
to my canvas.

Here are a few closeups....

I finished off my canvas with
verbage chosen from
Words for Art.

I hope you have enjoyed my creative process!!
I think I may need to create mood boards

Paper Hearts and a Challenge

Soooo.....I was talking with Cheryl Mezzetti upon her
return from the Scrapbook Expo in Grapvine, TX.
She was ECSTATIC about the response of
her PERFECT PAINTS
(I'm not surprised!!!)
She spent the weekend sharing the AMAZINGNESS
of her products and my post today
is about a "challenge" she gave me.

together to create another color

I had already begun a canvas and had been unsure
at that point, where I was going with it....
I now knew...
I had a "challenge"!!!

I apologize, there are very few step out photos,
this was truly a creative endeavor,
one to get lost in....and I did!

I began with a 14" x 18" canvas,
and cut (3) hearts from various vintage papers
and adhered them to the canvas.
I pulled out several The Crafter's Workshop stencils
and applied various Perfect Paints mediums through them....
Organic Matter Mask ~ Perfect Clear Texture Gel
Netting ~ White Stucco
Raven Mosaic ~ Cayenne ~ Polishing Plaster
when dry I painted on a layer of
Perfect Glaze Medium
over the entire canvas.

....my response to challenge #1

I stepped right out of my color box on this one...
Shimmering Matte Acrylics
Ballet Slipper and
my new LOVE ~ Vintage Mercury
which I folded into
Organic Sugar ~ Polishing Plaster

I masked off my hearts
with the original heart patterns
and lathered on the concoction!

Now came my answer to challenge #2

together to create another color.

My color choices

I added a bit of
Perfect Glaze Medium to help with opacity as
I wanted to see the music in my large
"Paper Heart".

Each heart was "colored" differently.
Did I say.....
I LOVE Vintage Mercury??

Each time, using the leftover "color" on the
background of my canvas.

Suddenly, I was stuck....
I had no idea how to finish the canvas!
Until I received a box from
Canvas Corp Brands with
their new Mixed Media Origins Collection
ahhhh.....there it was
a pair of wings on the Grace paper.
I spritzed the paper with various amounts of water
and painted my "color" onto the wings.
I then cut the wings out....oh the LOVE!

I wanted to share with you
a few more close ups of my canvas....

There are sooo many layers to this project
I can't even begin to tell you about them....
adhering string
painting tatting
coiled wire
toothpicks
big brush pens
vintage sign letters
and do overs!

.....all to achieve the finished project....

I hope you enjoyed my creative journey.....
I KNOW I DID!!

I hope you have a creative day.....
