Takes on the Fleur!

So...I never seem to stay focused on one thing for a long time. I guess you could attach all those letters to my name...but that's what creativity is all about....always thinking of new ways to do things...or just an old way...new product!!

So, my last post had to do with a simple paper FLEUR!! After I completed it....I got to thinkin...what other mediums...other than paper could I use? So another journey began...

How about Metal...Ten Seconds Studios metal is pretty thin...so I gave it a shot. I traced on the back side of a piece of pink metal. Cut it out. Ran it through my Cuttlebug...gotta have the texture!!! Added a little Alcohol Ink...turned under the outside edges....Flower #1. Repeated the process on the same piece of pink metal...This time...different texture...different color Alcohol ink!! Flower #2...repeated the same process to get Flower #3. I then took a non colored piece of aluminum...cut out some leaves....colored them with Alcohol Ink...And here you have it...

So, then I hopped to my next project....while down south a few months back I had picked up some Duck Cloth....I've always wanted to make a fabric album...why and what for...who knows...just seemed like something fun and different to do!

Typically...my project revolve around photos...this time my inspiration was COLOR! When I bought the Duck Cloth I had picked the beautiful, mellow, expensive trims. So...not knowing what I was doing, I chose to make the pages reflect those colors. Using my Mini Misters that were filled with Reinker and water...I began to color the pages....some squirts direct to fabric...some on my craft mat to give a more vibrant color. I looked at the pages and thought...how boring...hence the inspiration of Color...I colored a separate piece of fabric. I began to cut out flowers, a butterfly...then remembered my box of Crayola Crayons and a nifty little heating tool and began to melt crayons...then my thoughts went to metal. I had read in my Cloth, Paper, Scissors mag about a woman who was sewing Metal to a fabric collage...another inspiration...then I remember my GrungePaper...how could I forget...and Stickles...Distress Stickles....boy the old juices were just flowing!!!

Then a BRAIN STORM...why not make a coil flower out of Duck Cloth. I applied Claudine Hellmuth Studio, Multi Medium to the colored fabric for texture. I did add a twist...I sewed pleats in the coil...Ohhh laaa laaaa!!!

The book isn't completed...thinking maybe a collage page of GrungePaper, Metal and Cloth...little lace...who knows....but for now...this is what I have! And I had a BLAST DOIN' IT!!!

Fleurs....Fleurs and more Fleurs!

So during my extended vacation...hehehe...I've been utilizing my time and SCRAPBOOKING! I wish I was one of those peeps that can pop out the pages....my pages take HOURS!! One thing I have been doing is using sketches for these layouts! There are so many amazing sketch sites to jump start your creativity...some of my faves are 52 sketches 52 weeks, Inspired Blueprints, and Creative Scrapper to name a few. I even came across a card sketch site....Card Positioning Systems boy I wish I had found this years ago....may have made my card classes easier! You can create a layout based on the current sketch and win yummilicious prizes!!

So, in creating these layouts I find myself creating all different kinds of flowers to match the layouts....Not that I don't have tons of purchased flowers...which are all very amazing...and that I use quiet frequently!

The flowers I've been making are really so simple!!! The flower I want to highlight today I used on a layout titled, "Forsythe". I don't remember exactly where I came across this flower, hats off to the designer, and of course I had to put my spin on it..but it's so simple!

Begin with a drawn coil on the back side of the paper you wish to use.

Cut out the coil.

Gently ink the edges of the coil.

Man handle the coil. Twist it together. Use glue to hold it together. I used The Ultimate.

Embellish with a pretty brad.

There you have it!!

Basic Grey Gallery!

I was reading a my friend Gerri's blog today about courage. My dream in the scrapbooking realm is to be on a Design Team and to get published. It's hard....you put yourself out there...for all to see, the anticipation grows and you don't get chosen. I had even told my husband I wasn't going to do it anymore....cause it's hard. But I decided to go for it again....Put myself out there and see where I get....continuing to hone my craft....If you don't knock....no one knows your there and they don't open the door!

So here is one of my latest layouts...the call was to use fussy cutting...which I LOVE! And the Wisteria Paper.....to die for...bought two of each that was available at Generations of Memories. Will need to go back for more! I know...I've used the picture before but I had to make one for my mom and my seester!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it....and by the way...it got chosen to be on the Basic Grey Gallery...now how cool is that!! Check it out..... Basic Grey Gallery

PS.....to funny.....a quote on Facebook read...When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt!!!
Live, Laugh, Love.........create!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH.....I LOVE METAL!!!

OK...so we all know I LOVE METAL!!!!!

We had received our order from Ten Seconds Studios at Generations of Memories, a few weeks ago. I have PATIENTLY waited for the opportunity to work with these products and TODAY, was my day!
I used Studio 490 stamps to create the image....and away I went! Oh the fun....oh the JOY! Upon completion of the created image, I sanded it to expose the aluminum base. I then used Ranger Alcohol Inks to paint color back onto the embossed image....Oh the Beauty...can you tell that I am slightly EXCITED about this product...

I am soooooooo looking forward to having my amazing friend, Kim, to the store to teach a Metal Embossing 101 Class and maybe more!!! Be watching here or at Generations of Memories for more info regarding the classe(s)!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

This Sunday we honor the Mothers in our lives....I know for me, my mother has been a safe haven, a shoulder to cry one, someone to rejoice with. She has always been there for me!! What would I do without her.

As I am a Mother, I try to model my life after hers. One of unconditional love, an ear to listen, that safe place so my children know regardless of what they do.....I LOVE THEM!

So today, I salute the Mothers of the World....my hat's off to you!!!

Happy Mother's Day.....Mom and Jody.....I love you!!

CAN'T KEEP A CREATIVE PERSON DOWN!!!

Like I said before....I may not be able to do much....but color I can. What is so ironic is that...I never liked to color until....I discovered Copics and learned how to use them the RIGHT way!

When Deb came for a visit the other day, I had her bring me a handful of Copic Markers....You can only do so much with BG10, BG13, BG 15, BG18 and Y06, Y11, Y15

So here is one of my creations....from my journal I've started since my hiatus to heal, titled "The Summer of Lynne!" with a secondary title....One Hundred and One Ways to Use Studio 490 Stamps ! I LOVE WENDY'S STAMPS!!! Have I ever said that before?

Be watching my blog for other uses of Wendy's stamps and Copic Markers!
