ohhhhhhh.....Distressing!!

OK....this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show
it's all about DISTRESSING and we love that!!

Now, I would normally run to my Distress Inks, but this time I decided to go with another type of ink, Color Wash. I had bought a new book the other day and had been wanting to try a technique they talked about Batik.

I pulled out my Melting Pot, Beeswax and pariffin (to help with cracking).

I brushed the wax onto the Canvas Corp Tag, over a stencil created using the Sewing Room die. When cooled, I cracked the wax then I spritzed on various Color Wash colors.

Next, I melted the applied wax with my Heat Tool, to finish the wax removal I ironed my piece between pieces of newprint also heat setting the color wash.

Using the same technique, I created a strip of fabric which I stapled pleats, using my Tiny Attacher into to create her dress. With the left over fabric, I created the fringe on the bottom of the tag.

I cut a flourish out of Grungeboard as part of the spool/flower cluster in the corner. I accented my "girl" girl with a Liquid Pearl necklace and a hung a Bauble from her waist on a Jump Ring!!

SOOOOO.....there you have it....Distress. What comes to mind why you say that word? Well pull out your supplies and create a goodie and link it up to the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog!!

Who know you could win this.....

been waiting...

to be able to share this layout!!!

It's my teams week over at Let's Capture These Sketches and here is Charlotte's sketch

I decided to multi task last month as everything was due about the same time with TONS of other stuff going on...

So, I chose to use Dixie Pieces April Kit
full of black and white
Jenni Bowlin papers and
gooodies!!

And I had been reprimanded by my son that I never scrap him.....now I have to say photo selection is very limited with him....and guy layouts don't flow quite as easily as girls....especially because I'm not supposed to use flowers.......WELL I DID ANYWAYS...
Here is my take on the sketch.....

Now.....my son is super creative (not sure where he gets it from!!??!?) and very picky (I like to say he knows what he likes....once again......not sure where he got that from!??!?)
And I am proud to say.....he gave this layout "two thumbs up"!!!
(which can I say is quite the achievement!!)

and as I stated before.....I did get a flower in there!! I created it using the "Sewing Tape Measure" that was included in the kit. I cut 4" pieces, folded them, stapled them with my Tiny Attacher and then painted over the petals with a mixture of Claudine Hellmuth's Acrylic Paint. I then accented the center with buttons.....hehehehe snuck that flower in!!

there you have it...my edgy Boy page....WITH A FLOWER!!!

Don't forget to hook up your creation over at

ANYTHING but a......????

A CARD!!
NOW.....I have faith in ya'll....and I know you can do this!!
and so do the TEAMIES over at Simon Says Stamp and Show!

soooooo.....I went with a box!!

I covered it with Gesso, then I stamped bubble wrap into it.
I then ran Wild Honey, Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Stain over the dried surface.

I then spritzed it with water. I then ran Tissue Tape around the edges.
When dry I sealed the entire box with Multi Medium.

Using Maroon Archival Ink, I stamped "Life of the Party Dot" all over the box.

I created a template for the flower and cut the piece parts from the A~MAZING
Kraft Resist Paper. Which I then inked with Fired Brick Distress Ink. Spritzed them with water to help with the forming process. The center flower is made from Crinoline, cut from the Tattered Floral Die and spritzed with Mustard Seed. Each layer is held together with a brad then adhered with Multi Medium. As a final highlight....I dabbed on Fired Brick Distress Stickles.

The flourish was cut from Grungeboard. I painted one side with Gesso, turned it over, and when dry (hopefully you got some of the Gesso on the back side) I inked it with Peeled Paint
and formed it and tucked it under the Flower!!

And there you have it............NOT A CARD!!

so...........are you ready to take on our challenge????
