.....a FOND Farewell

It was 5 years ago I entered Petaloo's Color Me Crazy competition....

and I WON! 

I was awarded a coveted position on the

Petaloo Design team.

....so and the journey began!

Here is a project I created for Swirlydoos

Every year I make a new Pumpkin around Thanksgiving
.....this is one of my all time favorite ones!

This next project, I created for Tattered Angels.
I hangs prominently on my studio wall....still!

I proved to myself....you can use flowers on a boy layout!

Next up we have a TRIBUTE to Reminisce...

I created this tag for Yvonne Blair Designs
.....and yes I am using purple!

Last up is a project I created for Ranger's Melt Art Mania

.....there are SOOO MANY more I projects I could have

December Technique Kit!!

In my video, I will be showing you (briefly)

on top of my box.

A Swirlydoos ~ Imagination  Lab Tutorial!!

The focus of this weeks tutorial
 is how I created the backgrounds to my creations!!!

and this one........

So are you ready for some CREATIN'???

I was worked at Generations of Memories, in Littleton, NH and I got to play alittle bit with my gal pal Peggy Baker!

I cut a tag from Ranger ~ Manila Cardstock.

I used a custom made stencil with
Tattered Angels:
Glimmer Mist ~ Crushed Shell
Glimmer Mist ~ Roll Top Desk
Plain Jane ~ Simply Sheer ~ Aqua
Plain Jane ~ Simply Sheer ~ Shade

Now, it wouldn't be right if I didn't use my Distress~It~All, to tear up them edges!

I used a Spellbinder's die ~ 

Spiral Blossom One
and cut this AMAZING paper
by Canvas Corp called
TissueStock!!
LOVE this stuff! 

It comes in 3 different colors:

White, Kraft, Ivory

 

I used the Tattered Floral die and cut flowers from

Canvas Corp ~ Canvas and a piece of White on Kraft ~ French Script!

Accented them with

Canvas Corp ~ Natural Jute and seam binding.

I my creation is from this month Technique/Project kit~

3 of the boxes were created very similar. 

I wet a strip of paper and crumpled it up.
When dry I adhered it to my box.

I applied Victorain Velvet and Weathered Wood Distress Stain to the flowers,

to change their appearance.

I first applied gesso to the wooden hinge, then applied Picket Fence Crackle Distress Paint.
(if you don't the Crackle paint will just flick off!) I then wiped on some Weathered Wood Distress Stain and applied Crackle Accents to seal it.
I couldn't find brads that I liked, soooooo I rubbed them in Distress Embossing Ink
then dipped them in Frayed Burlap Distress EP.
When cooled I flattened with a hammer!

The background of 4 of the boxes were made by first painting each box with Gesso.
I applied a layer of Multi Medium then squinshed up a piece of dictionary paper

into the medium. When dry, I lathered on some Weathered Wood Distress Stain.

Next came a layer of Gesso. When dry, I sanded the raised surfaces and swiped on more Weathered Wood DS. To finish off the box, I applied some Sepia Archival Ink.

Another beauty......

Love the vintage lace and faux pearls!

I am excited and honored to be coming to you today with
my first Education Video for Swirlydoos!

This months technique kit has been an ABSOLUTE BLAST to play with.
When I found out what was in the kit......
I began playing at home with like products and created this little ditty.... 

and then my kit arrived with one of Tim's District Market Canvases.....

I have to admit it was hard to create on the canvas as it is AMAZING by itself!!
but the creative juices began to flow!
The Bo~Bunny Snowfall collection is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!

WELCOME 2012

Something OLD....Something NEW.....
This weeks challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge Blog!!

As we ring in the New Year.........everyone is busy with their RESOLUTIONS for 2012!!
But not me this year......I've been inspired by some of the folks over at Swirlydoos to create an Art Journal focusing  monthly goals in the coming year!!! Now.......to me that sounds more attainable!

So, I put my thinkin cap on, pulled out a piece of Canvas Art Board
and let the creative process begin!!

For something OLD......
I pulled out some MAGIC MESH.....

love that stuff, some vintage lace and an ATC paper I've had FOREVER!!

The focal point of the cover is the Super Mega Bottle Cap. I placed the ATC paper at the bottom, cut to size, filled the bottle cap with Crackle Accents and then arrange the floral grouping of Petaloo flowers. Can I just say how I love the Forever Red Perfect Pearls mist on the Black Gesso
.....it just POPS!!!

Another product I just can't get enough of is the Chicken Wire Template!!! I spritzed Vintage Photo Reinker mixture, Forever Red Perfect Pearls Mist and Gathered Twig ink.....just LOVE THE LOOK!!
