Mixed Media Monthly Challenge ~ Sweet Inspiration

One of THOSE projects.....

....and this is one!

I needed to make a 4" x 4" canvas,

representing my style for
Canvas Corp Brands DT.
Without a clear plan, I decided to use
the mood board from
Our Mixed Media Moods for my inspiration.

.....and so my exploration began.

You see, I had been on a "paper" making frenzy
so I chose one of my "creations" to be the base to my canvas.
I cut a 3.75 x 3.75 piece and adhered it to
my Canvas Corp Brands 4 x 4 Canvas.

I then picked one of the pieces from
the UmWowStudio's
Mini View Finder Mash
and cut it in half.
Next, I applied Crackle Paint to the face of each piece.
When they were dry, I adhered them to my canvas.

For my numbers....
I dove into my stash of Thickers
(I know you have one too)

and adhered them randomly to my canvas
with Multi Medium Matte.

....but I wasn't happy!

So, I walked away from it for a day....

I came back and applied my new addiction....

USArtQuest ~ Prills using
Multi Medium Matte.

....but I wasn't happy!
So I walked away from it for a day....

I decided it needed a bit more Crackle Paint.....

....but I STILL wasn't happy!
So I walked away for another day....

As I pondered on my creation
I decided it needed a bit more color to ooze
into the cracks and crevices of the Crackle Paint.

So, I pulled out a bunch of Tattered Angels Goodness
and let the coloring begin....

......If you know me you know
I think no work of art is complete without
saying SOMETHING!

so......I went to my collection of Yvonne Blair Designs stamps

and "Just Breathe" jumped out at me...

I took my creation out and photographed it and realized
I STILL wasn't happy!!
OH MY GOODNESS....

SO.....I headed back to my desk and pulled out a bit of

cheese cloth and wire mesh.....

NOW.........I WAS HAPPY!!!

PHEW.....what a journey.
but I do think it "Captures my Style"

the ATC's have it!

Welcome to my Mid Month post for

The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge....

I showed you how i created a piece of "background" paper
using StencilGirl Products.

WELL....I had plenty of left over "paper"

so I decided to whip up some ATCs.

I chose to randomly spritz on another

Tattered Angels color to change the

"paper" up a bit!

I have been in an ATC makin' frenzy lately....

so I pulled out various 'TOVERS

(leftover material from previous projects)

to create these little darlings!

I also added a few new little ditties

like this UmWowStudio ~ Crown Mash.

I even made my own flower from

Canvas Corp Brands ~ Kraft Cardstock.

...and I finished off all of my ATC's

with Yvonne Blair Designs ~ Card Sentiments.

My New Gig......

I am soooo EXCITED to announce

that I have been asked to join the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Design Team!

If you know me.....you know......I LOVE A CHALLENGE!

So lets' get this thing started......

This month's sponsor is StencilGirl Products and the theme is...

with a $25 Gift Certificate going to a randomly chosen winner.

Here is my take on this month's challenge!

I had lots of fun working with the StencilGirl products!

I wasn't sure where I was headed when I began this project

but I knew I wanted to play around with various mediums

through the Stencil Girl Products Stencils.

So, I pulled out a piece a piece of

Canvas Corp Brands Specialty Paper ~ Boucle

some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ~ Mountain Mist

and StencilGirls Products Centered Circle Stencil

for my first layer.

When that layer was dry

I pulled out my second StencilGirl Products Circle Tile Stencil

and randomly applied a layer of Deco Art Crackle Paste.

When that layer had finished drying I chose

StencilGirl Products Squiggly Sun Stencil

and spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ~ Navy Blue.

I then flipped the stencil over and applied to leftover

Glimmer Mist to the rest of my "background" paper.

Then it was onto the last layer, I again used the

StencilGirls Products Centered Circle Stencil

and randomly applied Perfect Paints ~ Clear Texture Gel.

While wet I sprinkled in a bit Vintage Glitter Glass.

I have to say, I love the interaction between the Clear Texture Gel

and the Glimmer Mist...creating a color variant!

When everything was dry I looked at my background paper

and decided I would create a tag first.

I have to say, I just LOVE how the background paper came out,

JUST THE PERFECT amount of sparkle and texture!

Here are a few close ups of my creation.....

I did add a few more layers to my tag......

I spritzed on an additional layer of

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ~ Precious Metals

and added a few copper seed beds for color.

.....a little bit of wire mesh

a section of UmWowStudio Hexagon background chippie.

a flower and a bit of foliage

accented with a bit of vintage trim.....

finished off with verbage from

Yvonne Blair Designs/IO Stamps ~ Card Sentiment.

MERRY Christmas Banner

Christmas is just days away and I wanted to share my last

handmade holiday decorations.....

My "MERRY" Christmas Banner was super easy to make!!

The base of my banner consists of:

a bit of CCB Ticking

7gypsies Vintage Pennant ~ Holiday Table

and a length of vintage trim

I then created a layers of

Red & Kraft Ribbon Stripe

French Script on Ivory ~ Tissuestock

and

Hunter Green Burlap

I added Avocado ~ Small Clothespins and loved 'em!

The ends of the banner were adorned with berry picks,

local pinecones and pieces of garland

topped with a burgundy burlap bow.

MERRY Christmas to YOU!!

Hello my friends.....I don't know about you but
I've been on a roll pumping out Christmas Decorations.
You see all of my decorations from "christmas past" are
packed away in my storage unit,
and I can't get to them.... (POOR PLANNING on my behalf!)
....and I just can't make it through this season with our ANYTHING!

So here is one of them..........

I have been working from CCB Farmhouse Christmas Mix and Match pad
.... because IT'S ALL THERE!
printed canvas
various burlaps
several printed papers
kraft paper
canvas and flute
what is there not to LOVE ABOUT THIS??

I did add my current favorite CCB paper Red & Kraft Ribbon Stripe

I tried to capture the Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glam ~ Chandelier
.....it didn't work, but it sure is pretty in real life!

I painted Santa's beard, hat and the bottom of his britches
with the Chandelier Glimmer Glam
Can I say.......it just shimmer in the Christmas lights.
If you look closely you can vaguely
see the snowflakes I stenciled onto the CCB Large Stocking
